When German immigrant Henry Schroeder founded Schroeder Milk Company in 1884, it is unlikely he knew that he was beginning a family business that would continue to grow, change and prosper over 130 years.
The company had decidedly humble origins. Henry had one cow and a small parcel of land, but he was determined to build a farm. The location offered the convenience of being close to the St Paul (MN) city limits, and he soon started delivering milk to home routes in St Paul.
Schroeder was one of the first farms in Minnesota to convert to pasteurization, successfully marketing the advantages of Schroeder milk safety.
In 2008, Schroeder Company became part of Agropur Cooperative, the North American dairy industry leader headquartered in Canada.
In 2009, Agropur acquired the former Farmland Dairies, providing additional Aseptic processing capacity.
